Ballot Contest Moderation

Within Ballot Moderation, you can easily see what phase the contest is in, manage ads / enhanced listings, view your contest's engagement and review potentially fraudulent activity

To moderate a Ballot Contest, follow these directions:

  1. Navigate to the Contests Page by clicking Contests in the main navigation at the top of any page
  2. Utilize the search options to find the contest you need to moderate
  3. Click on the three-dot menu on the far right of your contest
  4. Select Moderate

Ballot Moderation

When you first select Moderate, the Phases Moderation screen is displayed. This is your command center where you moderate the contest, advance or regress phases and change phase dates. You can also create group and category promotional ads as well as enhanced listings from here

Let's take a look at the moderation screen in detail:

  1. The Contest Summary and Contest Name, as entered in Contest Settings

In addition to the Contest Name, the summary includes the contest type, the contest status, the active phase and when the last edit was made

  1. Below is the Function Navigation, where you can select to manage Phases, Promotions, Activity and Fraud Prevention
  • Phases is where the bulk of contest moderation happens. Both phase advancement and contestant moderation are done here
  • Promotions is where both Ad Promotions and Enhanced Listings are managed
  • Activity is where contest activity is shown and reported
  • Fraud Prevention is where you can view and manage potentially fraudulent activity
  1. The Active Phase designator shows what Phase is currently active
  2. The Phase currently being viewed
  3. The contest's phase progression is visually displayed

ABOVE: The Phase Progression is where a moderator can view the phase progression configured for the contest. See Phases for additional information

Tip: By selecting the gear icon, to the right of the phase name, a moderator can adjust the phase's start or stop date. Depending on the phase selected, the nomination frequency, number of contestants to advance, voting frequency, and number of winners can also be adjusted here
  1. Contest Details and Advancement Controls

ABOVE: The Contest Details and Advancement Controls is where a moderator can start, advance or regress phases and stop / pause the contest. It also shows the current phase's scheduled end date and time

  1. Group / Category / Contestant Viewer

The Group / Category / Contestant Viewer is a contest's nerve center. This is where the bulk of day-to-day ballot moderation takes place. Here a moderator can see all entries, the status of those entries and is able to take action to accept or reject them. This includes managing the contestants throughout the contest's life cycle. Let's take a look at this in more detail:

  1. The Group or Category currently being viewed
  2. The Groups and / or Categories that were defined in the contest's Ballot Builder setup

The left side panel displays the Groups and / or Categories defined for the Ballot contest, an approved count and a pending count

Tip: Create group and category promotional ads by clicking on the "+Ad" option next to the Group or Category. Additionally, you can hide the entire Group or Category from the front end by clicking the "eye" icon. Clicking a second time will show the entire Group or Category
  1. Contestant Search and Status Filter
Tip: Use the Status Filter to filter down to Pending contestants that require action
  1. Contestant Merge Option

  1. Upload Nominations / Votes Option

Depending on the Phase, you may see an option to Upload Nominations or Upload Votes. See Upload Nominations and Upload Votes for additional information

  1. The Contestant Details

The main Contestant Details panel displays the contestant's name, an indicator if the contestant already has an enhanced listing, who added the contestant, the number of nominations or votes attributed to the given contestant, approval options and an Action icon allowing you to edit the contestant's name

Tip: Create an enhanced listing by clicking on the "+Enhanced Listing" option next to the contestant name
